The first draft of Ethical Lending Foundation's Code of Ethics is now available for industry review.

Clicking here opens a PDF file of the Code of Ethics.

This brand new, proposed national code of lending ethics is in preliminary draft form. The lending industry, especially in the residential sector, is at an exciting crossroads. Workers will be able to clearly elevate their status as professionals by pledging to a code of ethics---a standard of practice---that clearly requires a fiduciary duty to all customers. Having such a duty in which the highest good faith and fair dealing is required will have the effect of promoting a new and higher level of trust by consumers in the practices of loan originators, brokers, and staff. In turn, this could have the profound consequence of decreasing governmental regulation and increasing the return-on-investment of the new professionals of the industry. Please carefully read the draft form the new code and send your comments to Ethical Lending Foundation, which was created to protect and promote your economic interests as well as those of the public.
